The stepdaughter of Vice President Kamala Harris has begun promoting a fundraising drive that supports “urgent relief for Gaza’s children” via a social media post, a move that a Republican congressman has called “abhorrent.”
“Ella Emhoff, 24 — whose father, First Gentleman Doug Emhoff, is Jewish — affixed a fundraising drive” for the effort “on her personal Instagram account,” the New York Post reported.
“It makes no mention of the scores of Israeli children murdered among the 1,400 innocent Israelis killed by Hamas terrorists on Oct. 7,” the outlet noted further, adding that the appeal went out to Emhoff’s 315,000 followers.
So far, the fundraiser has netted nearly $8 million. It’s being operated by the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund, a nonprofit organization based in Kent, Ohio, which collected more than $21 million in 2021, ProPublica noted.
It’s not clear how much, if anything, Ella has donated to the cause.
“It’s of tremendous concern and I find it abhorrent,” Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ), said, according to The Post. “To be honest with you, I am kind of stunned by it. It’s disturbing to the maximum degree.”

Van Drew, a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, added that it is a near certainty that the terrorist group Hamas would siphon off any humanitarian funds that came into Gaza.
Ella has repeatedly said that she isn’t Jewish like her father.
“Ella is not Jewish,” a rep for the second daughter told The Forward in 2021. “It’s not something she grew up with. Ella truly has no qualms with the faith, but she does not want to speak on behalf of Judaism, as she does not celebrate herself.”
Ella’s embrace of Gaza and Hamas is not likely to play well in the Biden White House, where the president and his vice president are trying to walk a political fine line between overwhelming support for Israel following Hamas’ attack last month and the hard-left faction within the Democratic Party.
But it comes as Harris continues to be a liability for Joe Biden.
During a recent interview on her SiriusXM podcast “The Megyn Kelly Show,” the former Fox News host slammed Harris over her constant “word salad” explanations of various topics and her inability to clearly define issues to audiences.
“Her and (White House press secretary) Karine Jean-Pierre are cut from the same cloth — actually saying absolutely nothing with tons of words toward that end. It is a skill that shouldn’t be underestimated … it’s an embarrassment,” Kelly said.
“So we’ll laugh at this because it’s obvious drivel. But the left-wing press – they don’t like her. Even the Democrats don’t like her. But remember what they did to (former GOP Vice President) Dan Quayle? She’s not getting that treatment by the press …. Give it like another six months. You’ll get the hit piece on why we’re all sexist and misogynist and racist for having any fun at her expense whatsoever,” Kelly added.
“I did not think she was an idiot. I now think she’s a moron. She’s not that smart. Forgive me, I’m still one of those people who gets wooed by titles like, ‘She was the attorney general in the state of California.’ You know, how dumb could she be? Like, dumb. The answer is very, very dumb,” Kelly declared.
“And I come to that conclusion just with my own eyes and ears from watching and listening to her. She cannot put two sentences together,” the host added.
Kelly also torched President Joe Biden, saying “he can not speak” and voiced similar concerns about his mental fitness for office going into the 2024 presidential election.

Harris’s office has also been plagued with turnover and more than a dozen high-profile aids have left. But the problem seems to be, at least according to former staffers, people don’t like working for her.
